We do not just argue
for visibility.
We build the places where it is experienced. Five editions of International Albinism Awareness Day, a runway, a stage, and the people making culture around albinism.

The idea
More than a celebration.
We use celebration, creativity and public expression to change how albinism is seen, and to build spaces where persons with albinism shape that story themselves rather than appear inside somebody else's.
Festivals
The moments we come together
Celebrations, gatherings, awareness days and the public
events we have built since the first one.

Culture
What we create beyond them
Music, fashion, photography, film, poetry and performance,
and the people with albinism making it.
Explore culture
What we have built
One day a year, carrying one specific claim.
Awareness on its own is a weak thing to ask for. Each edition takes one argument and builds the whole day around making it impossible to ignore.
Be part of it
Culture is something we build together.
Come to the next one
Festivals, showcases and cultural events. Everything we run is open, and most of it is free.

For organisations, venues, brands and festivals who want to build something with us rather than feature us in something.

Every edition is carried by people who turned up. Stewards, photographers, drivers, medics, anyone who can hold a clipboard.

Help us keep creating the space.
One afternoon reaches people a year of campaigning does not. It is also the one place where a partner can stand next to this community without it looking like charity.
Festivals and events
The day itself: the venue, the stage, the pitch, the sound, the water and the people who make it run.
Creative opportunities
Commissions, materials and stage time for members who make things, so a platform is an income and not only an audience.
Community participation
Transport, access and the practical costs that decide whether somebody can be in the room at all.
Documentation
Photography, film and the archive, because work that is not recorded has to be argued for from memory every time.
What we will not do
We do not sell access to members, we do not stage anybody for a photograph, and no image of a person goes anywhere without that person's recorded consent. Those are not negotiable, and they are the reason the photographs look like this.
What is next
The next one leaves Nairobi.
Garissa
The sixth edition · 13 June 2027
We are bringing the festival to Garissa County in 2027, because that is where the work is. From Womb to Community is running there now, and the celebration follows the work rather than the other way round.
The theme is not set. It is chosen with the community rather than announced to it, and this page carries it as soon as it is.
